I take the 505 to work everyday. Over the last few years, I have found the perfect seat on the bus. Although it isn't always lit well because the overhead lights sometimes work and sometimes don't, it is the most comfortable seat on the bus that I have found so far. There is room to slouch and nap or slightly cross my legs to read. The funny thing about this seat is that I have come to know it as my seat. As the bus pulls up in the morning, I try looking through the windows to see if someone has already taken it. If they have, I start asking myself why did they have to take my seat? I begin to justify to myself (in my head) why I should have that seat and the person who is sitting in it should be sitting somewhere else. They are short, my legs are longer and I barely fit my legs in most of the other seats on the bus. Why do they have to take my seat when they could just as easily fit in any other seat on the bus? Do they feel the same way about my seat as I do? Do other commuters feel this way about their chosen seats or am I the only one who puts thought into their seat selection? When and if I don't get my seat and sit in the seat behind it (so I can reclaim my seat when the person who took it finally gets off the bus) I will observe the person sitting in my seat. I won't stare or anything but slight glances every so often. I say to myself, geeze, they are not even taking full advantage of the best seat on the bus. It is like people at the gym who don't know how to use a machine and you want to tell them so bad that even though they think they know what they are doing they are doing it wrong. Or like a person who just bought an expensive sports car and they won't even floor it and take advantage of its abilities. I have become better in my commuting ways and more relaxed. I am still in search of another perfect seat that I could use as backup but the search has been hard. Safe commuting!
